Letter from SMGC President RE: DBIDS

The Gun Club is now operational. Members in good standing and current status should go to the Las Pulgas Gate, Contractor’s Access Office,  anytime after September 23 during business hours to receive their new DBIDS passes.  These passes will be good until 15 December,  at which time their replacement will be a 1 year DBIDS access card.

In order to receive the 1 year access cards in December,  all Members will be REQUIRED to be current on Membership Dues.  Payment made and received before December 15 will ensure your addition to the DBIDS Access List.  Members who do not pay or don’t submit payment until after December 15,  will be scrubbed from the list and will not have access to DBIDS until there is a remedy,  AND the next list is submitted to Base (about every quarter);  NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

Please check back regularly to this website for any changes and updates.

Thank you all, carry on,

John Hermsen, President/CRSO

Letter from SMGC President RE: Range Operations / Licensing

Attention All Hands,

The notice you’ve all been waiting for!  SMGC will resume operations in the very near future,  our first event looks to be occurring at Range 117,  our old stomping grounds;  stand by for notice to follow shortly on the website for date and time.

DBIDS:  All  current Members will receive instructions on this website when it is time to renew DBIDS.  This should occur in the next 2 weeks as new procedures are implemented.  Please,  STAND-BY and take no action until instructed to do so.

Licensing:  SMGC executed a 3 month extension on the Lease today,  IOT refine the additions necessary to the existing licensing agreement,  and to add necessary Ranges to our list.

The Club is in great need of someone to immediately step forward and accept the position of Treasurer and Secretary as Harry and Cindy (our current Treasurer and Secretary) are leaving the State.

I would also like to announce to you,  your next Vice President of SMGC Inc. will be,  Marine Gunner Chris Jones!  Thank you Chris,  we look forward to welcoming you to your new position on the BoD,  and look forward to many years of promulgating Marksmanship Skills.

This is also all Members,  30 day notice of elections and General Club Meeting.  Time,  Date and Location to be posted as soon as I can book a location (COVID-19 Restrictions. Oy Vey!),  most likely the VFW Post in Encinitas should they be open… Any Members in attendance will be considered a Quorum and voting shall proceed.

The Club is also in need of someone to step forward and accept the Directorship of the HP,  Midrange and XTC Program.  With Harry’s departure,  my intent is that Midrange Matches will run concurrently with PPR and Carbine Matches at R218;  while XTC,  GSM/ Vintage Rifle Matches will occur at Range 214 on alternate weekends.  If you are interested,  please ask any questions and I hope to be working with someone interested in promulgating those particular disciplines with Jeff Lovat,  our GSM/Vintage Rifle program Director, soon.

Thank you for your attention,  carry on,  God Bless America

John Hermsen,  President/CRSO

2020-2021 DBIDs Information

FYI: ALL DBIDs cards issued to SMGC members expire on Sept 15, 2020.

We are waiting for the license extension to be signed that allows for these 1 year cards.

John Hermsen is pushing the base as hard as possible from the civilian side, while Gunner Jones pushes on the “green” side.

Until the license is created and signed, we cannot get the one-year cards.
As soon as we are informed that the license is signed, our roster is ready to submit and we will let all of you know when the trips to the visitors center can start.

Division Matches

Attention SMGC Members

Edson Range is hosting Division Level USMC Matches (rifle and pistol) running from November 2-13 on board MCB Camp Pendleton.

These matches will be run by the USMC Shooting Team from Quantico.

Civilians will be allowed to signup and shoot at this activity and receive the instruction and practice normally associated with the matches. At the current time all 5.56/.223 service rifles and service pistols complying with CMP regulations will be allowed to participate.

Details on the COF and activities will be provided as soon as we receive the approved Letter of Intent. Details of signup procedures will also be provided at that time
