Purpose:
- To affirm older adults and their valuable contribution in the life of the congregation in its witness and service to the community.
- To encourage older adults to use their gifts, abilities and energies and to accept accordingly the challenge and call to serve in leadership rolls within the life of the congregation.
- To assist the congregation to identify and minister to/with those older adults who are homebound or who are no longer able to live independently.

Regular Meetings in January and November and as needed.
Initiatives met:
1, 7, and 11 from the Ministry Team Initiatives page are met by The Senior Convo held every other year with 300-400 participants. Workshops and speakers are keyed to the needs of older adults and challenges them to use their retirement years in a positive way.
5 from the Initiatives page is met by participation in the S.C. Parish Leadership Institute, which identifies congregational needs and provides comprehensive training.
1, 5, 7, and 11 from the Initiatives page are met by "Senior Days at the Seminary." This event is held on alternate years from the convo and extends from Sunday afternoon to after lunch on Tuesday, hosted by our seminary. A select group of seniors provide seminarians with valuable insight to needs and skills of older adults. This event is hoped to benefit the students before they start working in the parish as to the value of using older adults in the ministry of the congregation.
Resource:
Individuals who are capable, experienced and committed to the ministry of older adults are our best resource. They are willing to assist any congregation in planning, promoting and implementing older adult ministry in their parish.
