The course of fire for August 25 will the the Garand, Springfield, and Military Vintage match followed by an M1A match.
This upcoming weekend is the SMGC Garand, Springfield, Vintage Military Match as well as .22 cal Rimfire Match.
This is the perfect opportunity for you keepers of vintage rifles to “blow the dust off” them and give them the opportunity to speak again!
The Club highly encourages all shooters to bring out your Lebels, Moisins, Mausers, Krag Jorgensons, Lee straight pulls, Enfields, Arisakas and of course your 1903s. In short any bolt action, magazine fed, military firearms. Sorry no single shot rifles (Sharps, Trapdoors, Muskets).
We would also like to encourage everyone to wear the period uniforms or uniform gear you may also have.
Thanks for helping to make this a nostalgic and exiting event!
As the weekend following the 17th is the Garand, Springfield and Military Vintage, the practice on the 17th will start at 200 yds and proceed to 300 yds.
This will enable those firing in the following weekend’s Matches to get zeros and some trigger time with the firearms they intend to fire during those Matches.
In addition there will also be a .22 cal rimfire Match during the weekend of the GSM Matches.
There will be Open Practice live fire shooting on 06/19 and 06/20 at Wilcox Range 103.
The course of fire for 06/19 (Saturday) will be a non-formatted practice and will be determined on the morning of by the contingency of those in attendance. There will be a work party afterwards to organize, clean, and paint the club’s Conex container at Range 103.
The plan for 06/20 (Sunday) is to start on the 600 yard line to establish and/or confirm zeros. Then shooters will move the 300 yard line for drills to include pair firing and three to a target firing. The drills are designed to get shooters to learn and reinforce wind reading skills.
The following announcement has been handed down by the SMGC Board of Directors:
The Long Range matches scheduled for Range 117 on June 19 and 20 must be cancelled as the Range will not be available.
Instead, SMGC will open Range 103 for practice on Saturday and Sunday, June 19 and 20. The BoD would be most appreciative of any persons who can plan to stay on and help out with a cleaning and reorganization of the Target Conex on Saturday after practice. Many hands make light work.
We would also like to invite everyone to bring along an extra 80 rounds for a NTIT “rattle battle” practice.
